Passport Photo FAQ
General answers about passport photos made with PicPassport. For country-specific size and background requirements, see the guides below.
Can I use my phone for a passport photo?
Yes. Shoot in good light against a plain background; use the PicPassport tool to crop and resize automatically to the correct dimensions for any country.
How does the auto background removal work?
PicPassport uses a client-side AI model to detect and remove the background. Your photo is processed entirely inside your browser and never leaves your device — no server upload occurs at any point.
Can I wear glasses in a passport photo?
It depends on the country. The US has forbidden glasses in passport photos since 2016. Many other countries introduced similar bans between 2016 and 2024. See the full glasses rules by country →
Why does PicPassport not require signup?
Privacy-first design: your photos are processed locally in your browser and are never stored on any server. No account is needed because nothing is uploaded.
Is the photo high enough resolution for printing at home?
Yes. The output is 600×600 px at 300 DPI, which is sufficient for standard 2×2 inch and 35×45 mm prints. You can also download a print-ready 4×6 inch sheet with multiple photos arranged for pharmacy printing.
