About PicPassport

PicPassport is built by Stepan Davidov, a solo developer. The project started as a personal tool after a trip to the post office revealed just how annoying — and expensive — getting a compliant passport photo can be. Rather than paying $15 and waiting in line, the idea was to build something that handles all the hard parts automatically, for free, without requiring an account or uploading photos to any server.

PicPassport generates passport-compliant photos for over 30 countries. The tool automatically handles head sizing and background removal — two of the most common rejection reasons. Supported formats include the US 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) photo for State Department applications, the Schengen 35×45 mm format accepted across EU member states, the Canadian 50×70 mm photo required by IRCC, and dozens more. Everything runs entirely in your browser using a client-side AI model — nothing is ever uploaded to a server.

Walk-in passport photo services typically charge $10–$15 and require a trip to a pharmacy or post office. Online services that offer similar automatic cropping usually charge monthly subscriptions or per-photo fees. PicPassport is permanently free: no subscription, no watermark, no signup. It follows the official specifications published by each government authority — the US Department of State, IRCC Canada, HM Passport Office UK, and others — and enforces them automatically so your photo is compliant before you download it.
